The municipality of Villanueva of San Juan is located in the Southeastern sector of the province of Seville, belonging to the region of the South Mountain range. Its population in 1.996 promoted 1,610 inhabitants.
These earth already were occupied by the man in the Paleolítico, when it was based in caves located in the neighborhoods of the present urban nucleus. Also archaeological rest exist in the zone that testify the Roman and Arab presence. At the end of century XV, finished Reconquista, the Christians create the call Puebla de Villanueva, destined to take advantage of the natural resources these fertile earth and to colonize and to repoblar all this strip that until then had belonged to the Muslims or he had been threatened by the proximity of the nazarí kingdom. With the construction of the church, at the end of century XVII, the definitive conformation of a town of certain importance takes place, that it prospers around the religious center with the arrival of new inhabitants who dedicate themselves to the workings of the field. Its foundation is made by the family Girón, Dukes de Osuna, under whose jurisdiction century XIX remains until entered good.
The urban nucleus, nailed in a zone of very steep topography, has been formed in the slope of a hill, presenting/displaying strong slopes. Villanueva communicates through the Se-469 highway with Morón of the Border (to the west) and with the Saucejo (to the east), although this route runs to the north of the locality, being necessary the existence of an access to the same one.
In spite of the moved topography, the locality presents/displays a quite compact morphology, with a series of apples extended basically oriented of this a the west and that come together in a street control center guidance station the north-south that leaves from the seat of the church. In the periphery, the urban plot is completed with smaller and irregular apples. A clear predominance of the residential use takes place.
Between its constructions of artistic historical interest they emphasize the Parochial Church of San Juan Baptist (century XVIII) and the Bridge of the Six Eyes.
