History of Valencina de la Concepción
Seat Our Lady of the Star The municipality of Valencina of the Conception is located in the western sector of the province of Seville, belonging to the region of the Aljarafe. In 1.996 it counted on a population of 5,922 inhabitants. The main body is located in the South area of the term.

In these earth important archaeological rest exist that they demonstrate the presence of the man in the Neolithic one and in the Age of the Bronze. Later, a Roman foundation existed here that with time would become an Arab farmhouse. After its conquest by the Christians in the middle of century XIII, this territory entrusts the family of the Ortiz de Zúñiga, to which later the Marquesado de Valencina and under whose jurisdiction is granted to him stays the locality until the extinction of the señoríos in century XIX. The name of the population comes, apparently, of the call "valley of the oaks", later to evolve until the present denomination. The last name "of the Conception" is added to him in century XIX by municipal agreement.

The urban nucleus is originated from the Property of Tilly, around the present main seat, and around which the farmers begin to construct their houses. Little by little, the nucleus is acquiring a triangular form with vertices in the exits to the highways of Santiponce (North), Gines (South) and Salteras (the west), remaining its almost invariable morphology up to 1.900. From principles of century XX to 1,960, the urban growth has continued being very moderate (in North and mainly this-Southeastern direction), now with one more a plot more regular than in the old helmet, but maintaining the tipología traditional of house to unifamiliar in closed apple.

In years 70 a great development of new urbanizations takes place, in which the isolated unifamiliares houses to second residence predominate (in some cases first). They are independent performances to each other, that do not respond to a previous planning and which they have distorted the urban structure of the nucleus: Site of Valencina (to the west, towards Salteras), the Majada and the Star (to the southwest), the Weighty one (to the Southeastern), as well as the northeastern sector of the population, where the urbanizations alternate with diverse infrastructures of telecommunications. These growth not always have arisen from annexed form to the main body, but that sometimes is remote of the same one, leaning on the main routes of access, case of the Batteries, Breezes or the Gloria, located in the highway of Gines..

In the historical helmet of Valencina several morphologic areas can be distinguished at the present time: the Old Helmet, defined morphologically by its constructions and with an irregular plot of its streets; The Perrera, located to the east and the northeast of the helmet, with an orthogonal plot; and the San jOse Quarter, of construction to unifamiliar twin, the type "cheap houses". But the historical helmet practically disappears hidden in the plot of new residential developments that surround to him, the urbanizations with tipologías standard other people's to the traditional ones: opened apples, unifamiliares villas and only residential use.

Between its constructions of artistic historical interest they emphasize the Parochial Church of Our Lady of the Star, the chapel of the property prehistoric Torrijos and dólmenes of the Shepherd, Matarrubilla and Ontiveros.
