The municipality of the Navas of the Conception is located to the northeast of the province of Seville, being adjacent with the one of Cordova. Its term is included within the region of the North Mountain range and the scope of the Natural Park of the same name. Its population in 1.996 promoted 1,926 inhabitants. Main the urban nucleus locates in one "nava" or valley surrounded by hills.
The history of this locality is quite recent, having its origins in 1.557, when king Felipe II causes the appearance of a dependent village of Constantina. The foundation is the responsibility of the monks of the Order of San Basilio in the well-known extension like the Tardón. The locality denominates then the Navas of the Pigs, by the abundant pig cattle that grew up in her. In century XVIII, the friars, whose work is decisive for the evolution of the place, they undertake the construction of a parish for the neighbors of the town. In 1.854, by decree of queen Isabel II, it obtains its independence like villa, already with the present denomination.
The old helmet is located in the center of the population, around the church and its seat. The later developments have taken place throughout the different ways and highways from exit of the locality, that go to the east (towards San Calixto and the Natural Park of Hornachuelos), to the Southeastern (it dams of the Retortillo), to the southwest (Constantina) and the northwest (Alanís and San Nicholas of the Port). All it has provided him to the town its present star morphology.
Between its constructions of artistic historical interest they emphasize the church of the Purest Conception (century XVIII) and the hermitage of the Virgin of Bethlehem.
