Under the Roman dominion it lives moments on certain splendor, to decay during the period visigodo. The Arabs recover it in farmhouse form, although its progressive urban development will end up transforming it into a fortified seat. In 1.507, queen Juana the Crazy person sells it, along with her term, to Perafán of Shore, getting up itself to the possessions of the ducado one of Medinaceli.

The origin of the establishment is in some Roman villa, located in a strategically important point of the road that crossed the Route of the Silver, and that would not get to constitute an urban nucleus. It would be property of a certain Giulius, that it would give name to the locality. During the Muslim dominion, the agrarian operation is transformed little by little into a palace, as they attest the rest of the medieval castle. It is possible that at this time a small suburb to the south of the strength existed, that would serve to the farmhouse and the military trimming. At the end of century XIII it already constitutes an establishment of certain importance, that it conserves the defensive character and where the apples become serious that surround the castle by the south.

At the beginning of century XV the Parochial Church is constructed, whose seat becomes the center of the locality. Of her part towards the south the axis computer of the urban growth until end of century XIX After this seat and on the same main axis, becomes serious the central space of the city of the XVIII (the Seat of Spain), where the City council is located. During century XIX the nucleus continues growing, until the total conformation of a tridente of streets oriented to the east, to the west and one third like central axis that connects the seats and is developed of north to the south.

During century XX, the growth takes place of linear form towards the north, throughout the ways of the Pajanosas and of Burguillos, until the bridge that crosses the Creek of Huelva. In first half of the century the peripheral streets are satisfied that delimit the historical center. In second a change of tipologías takes place edificatorias, with the appearance of promotion polygons. The nucleus presents/displays at the present time an irregular morphology, more extended in East-West sense, and an image little compacts, with several urban sectors between which some internal emptinesses are put in.
