The municipality of The Madroño is located in the end noroccidental of the county of Seville, being bordering with that of Huelva. It occupies Brown Sierra first estribaciones. Their population in 1.996 ascended 402 inhabitants, half of which I/you/he/she resided in the main nucleus. Among the remaining entities of population of the term The Poplar and Villargordo highlight.
The human presence in these lands goes back at prehistoric times. From very old, the man has exploited the mineral wealth of the region, case of the tartessios, the Phoenicians and the Romans. In the Half Age, this area welcomes some dedicated villages to the cattle exploitation. The Madroño reaches category of Villa in 1.921, having belonged until then to the municipality of The Castle of the Guards.
It is an urban nucleus of small size, in which most of the constructions is located to both sides of the highway that it crosses it, guided of this to west. Two clearly defined areas exist: One of them, something wider and more compact, he/she adds to the residential use the public equipment and it is developed along the voyage. In the same highway, but something separated from the first area, is another sector of smaller size with numerous uninhabited housings. In the whole nucleus of The Arbutus they dominate the traditional housings, embedded in arrays.
Among their constructions of artistic historical interest they highlight San Blas' church (XVI-XVIII centuries) and the Cros's chapel.
