Crossed by the River Guadalete and the Salted Stream, the municipality of The Coronil settles down in an end of the countryside of Seville, expanding its term until more to the south that the nucleus of Port Serrano, in the county of Cádiz.
The village dista of the provincial capital about 53 kilometers and their population ascended 5.134 inhabitants in 1.996 that concentrate in the only entity of existent population the municipality, the village of The Coronil.
In this area they were vestiges that point toward a remote past in the relative thing to the first human establishments; the oldest archaeological remains that are conserved date of the period calcolítico, stage of which the dolmen proceeds that at the moment remains buried in the vicinity of the town.
To the view, there is who defends the thesis that locates in the current village a primitive Celtiberian population that would be denominated Salpesa, base that then would finish being reutilizada for the Romans; it is deduced this way from the countless discoveries of those times. However, the birth of the town didn't take place until the XIV century, moment in which the place was not more than an uninhabited hill. As José he/she informs María of Ore, The Coronil it is one of the few towns that are born fully in time historical, as a result of a deliberate artificial performance; it was in 1.381 when the king Juan I from Castile granted permission to the Early of Andalusia, Ruy Pérez of Esquivel, to repopulate this hill or crown in which already existed a building or remains of him (it leaves of the current Castle of the Villa), apparently of íbera-Celtic time, taken advantage for Roman and Muslims of what is at the moment his castle.
Of such a configuration orográfica the name of the village proceeds, in some moments in that the first residents counted the number of 15 families around the castle that was built in that same date and that today is neighbors' house. The mentioned promoter of the town was as Mister of the territory that, but it takes it passed to the house of the Riverside. The Early ones also took charge of the Castle of the Aguzaderas that was part of the municipality of Seville and then property of the Medinaceli that gave it in fee to the city council of the town. The village category was reached in the XVII century and in 1.812 he/she obtained its independence like constitutional city council.
The nucleus native was constituted by a small number of housings around the castle and the church. The first expansions take place around an axis northeast-Southwest occupying the border of the promontory on which the village is located. This clearly lineal structure of the town, it is only transformed in civil times of the postwar one, in which an important growth takes place toward the south of the nucleus, in the denominated area The Malvinas that presents a perfectly orthogonal urban plot with small apples of housings unifamiliares. More recent they are the expansions that take place toward the east, supported in the construction of the Public College and the Municipal Polideportivo. Also of recent construction (decade of the 80) it is the Park of the Ravine that has supposed a dignificación from the main access to the city from the capital of the county.
In the concerning to their monuments, the most signal are besides the castle, the Church of Our Mrs. of the Consolation, the Chapel of Our Mrs. of the Remedies, that of the Vera's Christ Cruz and the old school of Mother of God, lifted in 1.767 and restored in 1.889.
