Typical Andalusian town and olivarero this municipality of Bollullos of the Mitación whose only population entity is the village of the same name located in full district of the Aljarafe in the Southwest of the county.
In the municipal term they have been vestiges that indicate the existence of several Roman villages dedicated to the agriculture. In fact of that time it dates the complement "of the Mitación", when existing a place for the relief (Mutatio, in Latin) of the horses. This position would be embedded to an inn or lodging for the traveling ones and maybe also a barracks or garnish, according to hypothesis maintained among other, for the historian D. José María of Ore. However, there is who prefer to relate "mitación" with "limit", that is to say that would be the determination of a frontier regarding some country property or region. Before this denomination, it is imposed in Arab time, that of Bulbul or Bul-Lul that it means outpost or military position, what would come to feed the version of the Roman military camp. In these payments they were several barren populations of Muslim time of those that are today some archaeological remains, like it is the case of the hermitage of Cuatrovitas, old mosque almohade.
The nucleus native of the current village, is located in the environment of the Square of Our Mrs. of Cuatrovitas, being limited toward the west until the highway of Umbrete and for the south, for the Hermitage Roncesvalles. A first expansion takes place toward the south, already in Christian time in address toward the current voyage of the highway YOU - 620. More recent they are the expansions north and this as well as those taken place to the other side of the mentioned highway that you/they were taking place starting from the years 60. To this same ápoca it corresponds the urbanization Cuatrovitas, to the northwest of the main nucleus and without urban continuity with the same one.
The urban structure of the nucleus is articulated starting from three communication axes: The highway of Umbrete that crosses the nucleus for their area west with address north-south, the highway YOU - 620, coming from Bormujos and with address to Aznalcázar that crosses the nucleus for their southeast area and, lastly, a third axis that arises of the square of Cuatrovitas and, with south address, it continues until Almensilla. This configuration of connection of diverse roads and with different orientations, he/she makes that a clearly defined urban structure doesn't appear in the nucleus, appearing areas with radial structure next to others with prevalence ortogonal with small rectangular apples of address this-west.
Bollullos of the Mitación is located in the geographical center of the Aljarafe. In their beautiful places several and rich monumental and artistic samples are contemplated, like it is the case of the country properties of Baroque time. A church and two hermitages are distributed the religious architecture.
