The total population of the municipality elevated in 1.996 to 3.173 inhabitants, the majority of which concentrates on the main nucleus, while the remainder is distributed among the settlements of Burraco and Gardens of the Sleeve and the village of Corcoya.

The locality was born like group of dwellings with the name of Vado of the Huts. Its ancestry prospered from the century XVI when was offered al Marquisate of Steppe, granted by the king Felipe II in 1.562 al general of the Sea Frameworks Centurión. The sixth possessor of this title received the Greatness of Spain in the epoch in which this nucleus he was constituted like neighborhood estepeño. It was then a spot of river with flat, firm fund and relatively little deep that could be crossed on foot without difficulties and, from there, the name of the assembly. By contraction phonetics, was called Vado the Hut, being united then in a single word as Vadolatoza. To ends of the XVIII began to write with a "b" intial, although conserving the "z". The present name appears for the first time in the municipal seal of the year 1.855.

The structure that presents the urban plot comes determined by its together location al I laugh, for which its native nucleus was formed by two or three parallel streets al river bed and limited clearly by a small stream that flows into al Genil and that has been a barrier al growth of the city toward the southeast, barrier that only has been surpassed very recently with several new poor districts and common equipment. These last expansions as well as other arisen in the southwest break down the primitive structure of the native nucleus, al to present an enough structure anárquica.

Among the most important places of the nucleus is the Church of Our Lady of the Help, a temple of three ships with three sections, cruiser and greater chapel, dated in the century XVII.
