History of Aznalcázar
Guadiamar River

Great part of the municipal term of Aznalcázar are found in the territory of the National Park of Doñana, in the extreme one suroccidental of the province of Seville. In turn, the own urban nucleus, existing only company of population in the municipality, is situated a great deal more al north, al western of the provincial capital, in the western cornice of the Aljarafe on the valley of the river Guadiamar.

Diverse authors see a precedent of Aznalcázar in the village of Alostigi cited by Plinio. Its origins are reckoned in ancient times of cultures such as that of the Glass Campaniforme and the Iberian one, both presents in the term. In The from Navarre was found a necrópolis Roman abundant in pieces of the epoch, and above all, glasses, stones and currencies minted certainly in the own population that, by that then, should be an important court summons.

Of Roman origin are also the cloths of wall, reconstructed in the Average Age, and the southern door of the same as well as the bridge of brick that crossed the river. They arrived the Arabian phase of domination acquired the place its prior denomination to the present one, remaining like Azn Al Kazar, that signifies "Palace in high". In 1.248, the Christians of the king Fernando III incorporated the town to the Spanish crown and its City Hall was considered realengo although later became señorío and head of the Marquisate of The Pedroso and The Towers.

The urban nucleus is situated in the western cornice of the Aljarafe, being dominated since the same one, the valley of the Guadiamar, location that causes thinks about a strategic situation since the military point of view.

The historic center, of form almendrada and dimensions very reduced, is situated very close to the cornice and remains limited by the old crossing of the highway to Batteries, so that all the subsequent expansions have developed toward the east. Thus, a first traditional expansion develops to way of orla al south and al this of the historic helmet. A second expansive phase is produced in direction this being approached al designed of the variant south, area that has gone colmatándose in recent years. The most recent expansions have been carried out toward the north and northeastern in remote houses urbanizations form.

The present urban structure, due to the dilated history of the nucleus, presents a combination of three typologies differentiated. The first one of them, that corresponds al historic helmet and to the first expansion, responds to a plot anárquica, own of the Moslem nuclei of origin. A second typology, that corresponds with the recent expansions of the nucleus is characterized for an urban assembly of packages with orthogonal plot but without clear connection among them. Finally, the remote urbanizations of houses suppose the introduction of new typologies in the urban nucleus, so much in which refers to the building as to the urban development typology,

Among the worthy monuments of reseñar in the urban nucleus, fits to emphasize the Roman bridge, cited previously, that was submitted to diverse restorations along the history and that, at present, is found in badly state. Other Roman remainders of epoch are some remainders of wall, sources and nearby subterranean zones al ábside of the Church parroquial.

This building, the Church of San Pablo, of ends of the century XIV, presents a building style mudéjar Sevillian with three ships you covered with structure of wood and separated by slender pillars cruciformes. The tower, with body of bells decorated with tiles, and other baroque works of the assembly date of the middle of the century XVIII.

The religious architecture culminates with the churches of Our Father Jesus of the Great one to Be able and that of Our Lady of the Incarnation, while the civilian remains represented by the houses of the century XVIII, the Casino and the House of the Camargo. The public source is constituted in two buildings adosados with pilastras and columns datings between 1.773 and 1.789.
